Raider Cook still hopeful of return

28 Aug, 2010 01:00 AM
INJURED Wodonga Raiders forward Adam Cook has denied his season is over even if the Ovens and Murray club progresses beyond tomorrow’s elimination final against Wangaratta Rovers at Bunton Park.

Despite being sidelined since July 31 with ankle problems, the former Williamstown player said yesterday he was still in the mix to return this season.

“You have no idea how frustrating it’s been,” Cook said yesterday.

“I was close this week to playing and definitely haven’t given it up.

“It’s an old injury I have re-injured a few times and just haven’t been able to get it right.

“Hopefully it will be right next week.”

The Raiders last night recalled defenders Mark Sims and Travis Edmondson at the expense of injured duo Luke Martyn and Michael Sims.

Rovers forward Brendan Sessions has been declared fit after overcoming a groin injury.

The Hawks’ leading goalkicker passed a fitness test on Thursday night and pulled up well yesterday in a much-needed boost to their ailing forward stocks.

Injured midfielder Tas Clingan was replaced by Matt Brown.
