Star-Hossack, who was also handy against Wodonga Raiders last weekend, contested well against the Canberra side in the 12.7 (79) to 7.5 (47) win and is set to provide the back-up for No.1 big-man Cal McClay in the opening rounds.
The reigning premier received a huge scare when full-forward Matt Fowler was knocked out in a heavy collision.
He was later cleared of any serious damage.
Daniel Maher led the way for the Tigers at ground level, while John Mitchell and Tom Yates also played well in the absence of Shaun Daly, McClay, Chris Varsamakis, Andy Carey, Lloyd Shepherd and Josh Merkel.
Belconnen lost several players through injury including former Osborne youngster Malcolm Douglas with a gashed head.
Andrew Dess, who crossed from Lavington to Belconnen after showing glimpses for the Panthers last year, was lively in attack with two goals.
