When going gets tough — Carpenter gets going

16 Jul, 2009 01:00 AM
COROWA-Rutherglen gun Sam Carpenter has been voted the Ovens and Murray’s toughest player.

Of the 40 players polled by WIN Television, the Roo picked up eight votes to edge out tough Yarrawonga backman Matt Wollington by three.

Carpenter, who lost his arm as a four-year-old in his parents’ butchery, has been a revelation since arriving at the John Foord Oval at the start of 2008 and is one of the favourites to win this year’s Morris Medal.

Dual Wangaratta premiership coach Jason Lappin polled the most votes in the ‘which coach, apart from your own, would you most like to be coached by’ category.

Lappin edged out Corowa-Rutherglen’s Peter Tossol.

The second half of the player poll will continue next week.
