IT doesn’t take much imagination to find Hayden Webb on weekends.
While the Holbrook youngster concentrates on football during the winter, the summer months are chaotic as he juggles his cricket and golf commitments.
Hayden, 16, spends his Saturday mornings playing for the Brookers’ under-17 cricket side before ducking home for lunch and racing off to play for the town’s senior team in the afternoon.
The medium-pacer proved himself to be a matchwinner at the weekend against Holbrook Colts taking 5-31 off 13 overs to put his team well on the road to victory.
Hayden’s weekend isn’t over there, however, as he been playing for Team Robert Allenby in the Murray District Golf Association’s Cameron Thompson Shield over the past six weeks.
He posted two wins and two losses during the junior pennant including in Sunday’s final against Team Stuart Appleby at Corowa.
Hayden then finds time to race home and send through the weekly scores to the local media as the Holbrook Golf Club’s publicity officer.
“It’s been busy but I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Hayden said yesterday.
“That’s what you do growing up in a sporting town like Holbrook.”
The Billabong High School student, who plays off 7, said the Cameron Thompson Shield had been a great learning experience for himself and country teammates Scott Kilpatrick, Mark Gammage and Wade King.
His season is far from over as he will play in the MDGA stroke championships at Corowa this weekend.
“You get a bit tired on Sunday nights, but it’s good fun,” he said.
“I love it.”
While Hayden’s sporting prowess is growing by the day, he’s no slouch in the classroom either and will spend the next three days in Sydney with the school debating team.
