 Ruffels keeps nerve

Ruffels keeps nerve

14 Jan, 2012 12:00 AM
RYAN Ruffels has won the Wodonga Junior Masters, pipping the Border’s Zach Murray by four shots. Ruffels, 13, held his nerve on the last day, shooting four-under-par and giving Murray — who shot two under for the day — little chance to get back into contention. It was a fantastic performance by the Melbourne boy who also finished the tournament as yesterday’s stroke-play winner in the under-15 section with a 68. In the girl’s event Wangaratta’s Georgia Macklan held her day-one advantage to win the Junior Masters with a scores of 74 and 78. In the handicap competition Samuel McLean, who plays off 27, blitzed the field to average 65 shots for both days’ play.
