LEADING trainer Brett Cavanough has again stamped his authority on his home course, recording a double at Albury yesterday.
Garvan ($8) charged to victory in the Open Handicap (1175m), upstaging in form six-year-old Riverina Lad, who at $2.40 was the shortest-priced favourite of the day.
Meanwhile, Cavanough’s red-hot four-year-old Racers N Chasers ($6.20) made it back-to-back wins at Albury in a fortnight, destroying the rest of the field in the $10,000 Benchmark 55.
The gelding, which Cavanough has set for the Albury Gold Cup carnival after its impressive maiden victory, again romped home, winning by more than three lengths.
But the highlight of the twilight meet came at the end of the day, with Tony Meade-trained mare Air Attack saluting at the incredible odds of $99.80 in race 8.
