Bowlers were very scarce during the last week, there was no championship games played and there were no social bowlers over the weekend and so it is thank goodness for the mid-week bowlers, they never fail to show.
Last Wednesday, there were 16 bowlers searching for the mid-week jackpot and it is worth searching for too.
At $230, it is not to be sneezed at, especially with the long weekend coming up. Anyway, we had winners and we had grinners and the winners were Frank Rowe and Rick Taylor, Jason O’Brien and Merv Miller came in second.
The jackpot was not won, but the Michael Smith rester was and it went to Ted King.
The mid-week raffle was won by Leanne Erwin and the Powerball winner was Bill Meharg.
The jackpot for last week was $230, and so it should be somewhere around the $250 mark for today.
Bowls will start at 1.30pm with names in by 1pm. Visitors are welcome to play and if you haven’t got a set of bowls don’t worry, there are plenty at the club.

As I have just said, there was not much activity in the bowling department during the last week but there should be plenty of action from here on.
There will be a “Mini Money” game on this coming Sunday and all members and guests are invited to play. There will be prize money for winners and runners up and it is single entry so that everyone has a chance of getting into the winner’s circle.
Names must be in by 1pm and the game starts at 2pm. This is an open pair’s game and the dress rule is mufti.
There is an entry sheet on the board and also one on the ladies notice board so please put your name down for a game.

The Beres Preston Memorial Day was to be played on October 12, but has been put back until the 19th due to a breakdown in communications.
The Club House Hotel social club will be holding their bowls day on the 12th, so the club is theirs for the day.
The Tuncurry Travelling Bowlers will be here on October 14 and we want as many local bowlers as we can muster to play with them.
It is a fun day and there won’t be any real serious bowls played, so don’t be frightened, come along and have a game.
The game will start at 1pm, dress is mufti but you are asked to wear your club shirt or in the case of a social bowler who does not have a club shirt then a white T-shirt will do.
Twilight bowls will commence on October 10 and everybody is invited to play.
The game will start at 6.30pm for the first couple of weeks until the weather gets a bit warmer and then we will probably start at 7pm.
Names are to be in by 6pm and start at 6.30pm.
Dress for the twilight bowlers will be mufti (neat casual), flat sole shoes or bare foot and a big smile.
That’s all you need to play and if you do not have a set of bowls, there are plenty at the club and there will be prize money for the winners, so come along and enjoy the game.
