Coulthard, now at Walkinshaw Performance, will drive alongside Jason Bright with the third seat yet to be decided.
No decisions have been made as to under which V8 Supercar franchise Coulthard will compete.
Coulthard, who was born in Britain but brought up in New Zealand, is a versatile driver, having successfully competed in karting, Formula Ford, Formula Renault and Carrera Cup before moving to V8 Supercars.
The driver of the No.61 Bundaberg Racing Commodore found himself without a full-time drive after last week’s announcement that Russell Ingall would join Walkinshaw Racing next year.
Coulthard will remain in the Bundaberg Racing Commodore for this weekend’s Norton 360 Sandown Challenge and the V8 Supercar finale in Sydney in a fortnight’s time.
Coulthard said he was very happy with the move to BJR.
“What’s happened over the last few months (at Walkinshaw Performance) has been purely a commercial process and it’s nice to be able to move on; I’m happy to still be racing.
“The deal’s only been signed a couple of days. It’s been a whirlwind process but now I can start thinking about the future. I’ve got a lot of unfinished business. I want to win races and, teaming up with Brighty, I think we’ll make a pretty strong combination and bounce ideas off each other.
“It’s going to be good at BJR; my relationship with those guys goes back many years to when I bought my Formula Ford from the Jones family and I’m really looking forward to getting up to Albury and meeting all the mechanics and engineers.”
Meanwhile, On The Grid columnist and Team BOC driver Jason Bright continues to receive treatment for a rib fracture but will drive this weekend.
Bright was ruled out of last Sunday’s race at the Falken Tasmania Challenge after developing severe pain in his right ribs over the weekend.
Former BJR driver Cameron McConville stepped in at the last minute.
This weekend it is Andrew Jones who is on standby,
