WODONGA Council and Wodonga Athletic Club are encouraging locals of all ages to enjoy The Border Mail’s Fed Hill Challenge and enjoy the surrounds the city has to offer.
More than 110 pre-entries have already been received for the mass participation fun run event, which will be held on Sunday, August 22, at Willow Park.
Around 450 people took part in last year’s challenge and the popular event looks set to grow further in its third year.
The 10km course will feature the trails and slopes of Federation Hill and highlight spectacular views of the city.
The 5km short course will meander along the base of Federation Hill avoiding the steeper slopes.
Both races will start and finish at Willow Park, Pearce Street, Wodonga.
The races will commence at 10am.
Wodonga Council’s recreation officer Merryn Deslandes said the course will make use of the existing tracks and fire trails on Federation Hill.
“The views from the top of Federation Hill are just amazing, you see the whole city,” she said.
“The more serious runners will most likely not be able to take advantage of these, but for the families and social runners it will be a terrific opportunity.”
Prior to the race and after its completion, there will be food and music available for participants and families to enjoy at Willow Park.
Spot prize draws, and the presentation of age group and overall winners, will occur post-race.
There is pre-entry registration at local Hume Building Society branches until August 19. Race day registration closes at 9am.
The first 200 entries get a free Fed Hill Challenge T-shirt (collection at Sports First).
The supporting sponsor is HealthFocus Physiotherapy, who have supplied a four-week preparation guide for the race.
