TEENAGE motocross sensation Kade Mosig is confident of getting his new partnership with Motorex KTM Racing off to the perfect start.
He will feature at the 2009 Australian Motocross Championship Series opener at the Albury-Wodonga Motorcycle Club this weekend.
Mosig, 19, has made the switch from Honda to Motorex KTM to join reigning under-19 Australian champion Tye Simmonds, 17.
The Victorian will ride the 2009 model KTM 250 SX-F in the Pro Lites class and is enthusiastic about his chances.
“The new team has been awesome so far,” Mosig said, after making a guest appearance at St Monica’s Primary School.
“We’ve been really hard at it because it’s a completely different bike to ride.
“It’s a taken a little bit longer than expected but Motorex KTM have got my bike set up really well.”
Mosig isn’t expecting much crowd support tomorrow with Albury rider Kristy Gillespie among his immediate competition.
Gillespie, the reigning Australian and Victorian women’s motocross champion, will create history at this weekend’s event.
Gillespie, 20, will become the first woman to ride against the men in the Pro Lites category after receiving a wildcard into the event.
“It’s great to see Kristy get out there and have a go against us boys,” Mosig said.
It’s Mosig’s first trip to the Border since claiming an under-age state title when he was 15.
The Australian Motocross Championships will start at 12pm today, with the main events on tomorrow morning.
