Steamers seek Ella inspiration

03 Jul, 2009 01:00 AM
THE Steamers are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to bring down the high-flying Wagga Waratahs at Fortress Murrayfield next Saturday.

The ’Tahs are the reigning premiers and red-hot favourites to take out this year’s Southern Inland premiership.

But the Border boys are bringing in a secret weapon — none other than former Wallaby great and member of the illustrious Ella brothers trio, Glen.

Glen will be the guest speaker at the inaugural Steamers Bloodbath Cup Dinner which will be held at the SS & A Club after the match.

However, there’s no doubt former teammate at Randwick — the Galloping Greens — and now Steamers coach Don Cameron will first be enlisting Ella to give his players a few clues before the clash.

“I haven’t been to Albury before but my brother Mark has and he’s told me the Steamers are a great bunch,” Glen told Backchat yesterday.

“So, yeah, I’m looking forward to getting down there and meeting a few people and giving them a bit of a hand if I can.”
