Big day of soccer grand finals

18/09/2008 12:37:00 PM
The final games for Cobar Junior Soccer Club saw beautiful weather (apart from the wind) and a huge number of supporters at Ward Oval last Saturday.

Two fun games were held in the Mini and Mid divisions and a grand final match for each division also.

The mini Wanderers took on mini Spurs defeating them five goals to one.

Braith Good (3), Jack Fazulla and Kane Buckman scored goals for Wanderers while Tylar Greenaway kicked home Spurs only goal.

The mid Wanderers (3) were also successful over the mid United team (0). Brandt Heather and Hayden Vloedmans found the net for Wanderers with an unlucky own goal by United rounding out the fun game.

The Mini division grand final game saw United (2) finish as premiers over Rangers (0). James Mitchell and Georgina Whiteman had the lucky boots for United in this game.

Spurs (1) fought a close game to defeat Rangers (0) to become premiers for the Mid division. The only goal in this fierce match was scored by Robert Good.

In the senior division Rangers (3) put it all together to ensure they took out the premiership over United (1). Luke Hillier (2) and Rhys Smith found the net for Rangers, while Blake Heather scored United’s only goal for the match.

The Under 18s division again provided an interesting and eventful match between Spurs and Rangers.

Exceptional skills were shown throughout the game by players in both teams but Spurs were consistently outstanding with Rangers displaying less defensive ability.

At half-time Spurs (3) had the Rangers scoreless. A Spurs’ own goal soon into the second half provided Rangers with their first point. Spurs ended up victorious with a five to two win. Goal scorers for Spurs were Baden Smith (3), Jade Buckman and Lincoln Chatimba, while Shane Place put away the goal for Rangers.
