PROVINCIAL forces East Albury, Lavington and North Albury have booked final-four spots in CAW’s Twenty20 competition, with wins in yesterday’s quarter- finals.
East Albury did enough to overcome St Patrick’s on its home turf, with the Crows passing Patties first-innings total of 102 with two overs to spare.
Liam Jones and Connor Kilpatrick starred for the winners, with Jones posting 41 and Kilpatrick taking three wickets before going on to guide the Crows home with the bat.
East Albury skipper Joel Shepherd, who finished 30 not out, was suitably satisfied with the Crows performance.
He was impressed that his bowlers had kept on the pressure from start to finish to restrict the reigning two-day premier to a comfortable chase.
“That was the key, keeping them to a low score,” Shepherd said.
“We were on the job early and were able to get their top batsman out before they had a chance to get going.
“Getting off to a good start was vital.”
Meanwhile, Lavington and North Albury had much more convincing wins.
The Panthers needed just 12.5 overs to hunt down New City’s total of 98 at Bilson Oval, with keeper-batsman Tom Stead running up a quick-fire 51.
Stead, who finished unbeaten, was ably supported by star all-rounder Liam Scammell, who chipped in with a well-made 40.
Andrew Taylor took three wickets.
The Hoppers toyed with Wodonga Raiders at Birallee Park, restricting them to a paltry 58. And it was slow going for Raiders, who took almost 18 overs to eke out their runs. Rob Hartnett took 4-8.
North Albury finished 4-64 after 11 overs.
Either Tallangatta or Yackandandah will fight it out for the fourth spot next Sunday.
