Fev would be great for footy

28 Jan, 2012 12:00 AM
NEWS that AFL star and bad boy Brendan Fevola is considering a move north to the Ovens and Murray competition will spark interest among those who follow football.

It may spark even more interest perhaps from those who don’t.

The former Carlton superstar probably has as many critics as he has supporters and a move to the O and M would certainly give some additional profile to the team that was successful in wooing him their way.

A few extra people through the gate on game day and some attention for the senior side would certainly be welcomed by many clubs.

Certainly, it will be up to Fev to behave himself and ensure he doesn’t get into the kind of strife he has seen in the past.

Any hint of trouble and what should be a win for the league, the club and the region’s fans would quickly deteriorate into damage that would take some time to repair.

It would also end any hopes Fevola has of playing out the remainder of his career in the region and among those who have his respect and admiration.

Let’s hope a deal between Fev and an O and M club is made and the 2012 season kicks off with a great publicity bonus.
