 Golfers give a great lesson

Golfers give a great lesson

MARCUS Fraser and Lindsey Wright could never be accused of forgetting where they come from.

While both have made it big on the world golfing stage, it’s a testament to their character that the pair were happy to take time out of their busy schedules to conduct junior clinics at their home courses yesterday.

Fraser, who hails from Corowa, and Thurgoona export Wright gave some of the region’s most talented young golfers a lesson money can’t buy — nine holes with their heroes.

Fraser was one of the most in-form players in Australia late last year.

He returned home after impressive second-place finishes at the Australian Masters and PGA Championship, while Wright finished runner-up at the LPGA Brazil Cup in Rio de Janeiro in May.

Fraser, whose red-hot finish to last year has seen him surge into the world’s top 100, has now set his sights on cracking the top 50.

For the young golfers at yesterday’s clinics, an experience like that could be the catalyst to go on to bigger and better things in the sport.

And if they go on to represent the region as well as Fraser and Wright do, we can all be very proud.
