THE growth in the Chryslers on the Murray is a remarkable achievement for the small band of volunteers who have driven its success.
Yesterday the smallest Chrysler club in Australia put on the biggest show in the country.
Car lovers came from far and wide.
Many told The Border Mail that it had become their annual pilgrimage.
For others it has turned into a family affair — a group of people detailing a list of grandparents to toddlers who make the trek to the Border each year.
What it means financially is an influx of people only rivalled by the big Christian holidays.
Hotels and motels are full, restaurants booked out.
But sadly with such crowds, ratbags too, are likely with Saturday’s shenanigans at Ettamogah a prime example.
The burnout is one thing, the actions of the crowd in blocking police another.
Neither is acceptable but the latter was deplorable.
The bitumen in Wodonga Place in Albury yesterday also carried the distinctive black mark of burnouts in the wake of Saturday night.
In the past such incidents have not been an issue for the show — let’s hope that is the case next year.
