I CAN’T believe that a newspaper of the standing of The Border Mail would waste 10 pages in the issue of June 27, filling them with beat-up stories about Michael Jackson.
Those pages could have been put to much better use profiling 10 worthy citizens from the newspaper’s circulation area.
People — who as volunteers — work tirelessly year in and year out to help people down on their luck, raise funds for medical research and much more; and ones whose efforts ensure the survival of community social events and sporting activities.
These volunteers do not ask for recognition but they certainly deserve it.
And I imagine a large number of Border Mail readers would have preferred to read about local achievers rather than Michael Jackson.
