 Citizens - Our Rights?

Citizens - Our Rights?

02 Feb, 2012 08:34 AM
I WAS absolutely disgusted with the report in The Border Mail of January 21, 2012.

Where are our rights, when this barrage of vandalism, graffiti, lack of respect for people’s property, road, rage, hoon behaviour continues daily?

Where is the deterrent?

It’s time for tougher penalties regardless of age; these are criminal crimes and should be dealt as such, ie name and shame or into juvenile justice care where they earn that life is not all about them, it’s to do with respect and responsibility.

Maybe it’s time to look at the legal age; put it back to 21.

At the age of 18 they’ve been given all this responsibility without the brain power to go with it.

Drinking, drugs, so much freedom to do as they like, lack of respect for themselves with the way they act towards authorities, road rules - it’s all a big joke to them.

It’s a privilege to drive, own a car and be part of a decent society.

A lot of changes need to happen to address the above, most of all from their home life, made to work for the dole, and if caught, made to pay recompense for any damages.

Everything is just so easy for this generation, it’s time they learnt what responsible living is.

— BETH MOYLE,

Wodonga
