THE gum trees in Brockley Street belong to the deadly, limb-dropping species.
There needs to be no storm and the mighty branches just fall without warning.
It is the tree one up from the one that warned council — who then just came around and cleaned up the ground mess.
That tree dropped another in a storm so finally the warning saw the deadly, “bush” tree cut down.
The tree featured in The Border Mail on Monday will drop more limbs — nature prunes itself in the bush.
But it is totally unacceptable to have them hanging over unsuspecting children, babies in strollers and adults who walk the footpath to and from a few school routes.
You can’t replace someone who will have no chance when a limb just falls with no warning.
I hope council heeds the warning of this second tree, the neighbouring tree of the removed one.
This is perfect weather for limb dropping: warm, calm, beautiful, windless, unexpected days.
Ask any farmer.
These trees belong in the bush and not on nature strips.
Council, do your job and take this potential killer down. This second tree has sent you a warning.
Heed it.
