WE will all pay for parental leave, exactly as Judy Thomas of Howlong said (Border Mail, March 13).
Are we so naive to think that big business would just absorb a tax increase to enable the Government to pay six months full salary to all women who have a baby?
This tax will be passed on to the consumers.
The proposal that pensioners, unemployed people, working families and people on average wages should have to bear the cost of price increases to provide six months full pay for women who earn up to $150,000 is nothing short of cruel.
If Mr Abbott thinks this will make him more popular with women, I can’t see it working.
People with children already get huge benefits from the rest of us.
Spare a thought for the people who don’t have children, but who also need to live.
