School failed to stop bullies

11 Jun, 2007 09:00 AM
I REFER to Simon Goss’s letter on bullying “Look closer to home” (The Border Mail, May 30).

My year 10 child was a victim of bullying at school this year.

There was no liaison with the parents of the bullies, only the bullies themselves.

When this made it worse and consolidated the bullies’ conviction to keep bullying, the school’s solution was to stop helping.

Schools may have to display values but obviously do not have to ensure they are followed.

The bullies are still at the school while my child had to leave for her own safety and Mr Goss wants to tell me it is not the school’s fault.

These kids continually showed they had no values and no respect for the school, teachers or other students.

If the school believes in its values, then why are these children still there?

— CONCERNED MUM,

Corowa
