THE news has indicated that it will be the taxpayers who pay for the removal/replacement of the foil insulation that was incorrectly installed during the Government’s energy savings program.
It seems to me that I should not have to pay for the mistakes and rorts that were the responsibility of the shonks who got in to make a quick quid.
The genuine contractors are going to suffer a double blow, they have already lost business and have an excess of stock, and now will see their taxes used to make things safe after the fly-by-nighters have gone.
The program was well-intended and with appropriate care and skill on the part of the installers would have been a success, so the blame should be totally laid at the feet of the unethical/careless installers; they, and not the taxpayer, should be responsible for the bill to redress their greed and incompetence.
