GIFT of Granya House “is life” (The Border Mail, August 25).
This is a wonderful institution and fully deserves all the fund-raising that goes towards it.
As these delightful, successful young women partake in the Miss Albury-Wodonga Quest, do they reflect on what happens to those less focused and fortunate women in our community who become addicted to drugs or alcohol?
Is anyone aware that there is no local residential rehabilitation or homeless accommodation for women in our local area?
I would also be interested in the statistics of how many homeless women attend the Carevan that recently received a grant of $75,000 to feed homeless people.
I am of the opinion that our local region does not acknowledge that there is an equally desperate need among our local women and men.
Somehow the women remain invisible.
