An initiative by TLC For Kids, the day seeks to raise funds for children in hospital who may be facing issues of ill health, isolation or emotional stress.

Riverview Child Care Centre teacher Krystle Peace, who decided to co-ordinate a Tracky Dack Day for the centre, says it is a great way to help children who may not receive assistance otherwise.
“As soon as I found out about it I thought it was a great idea, because the children who benefit are those not covered by the usual charities,” she said.
“You’ve got a lot of charities which specify one illness or condition, but TLC looks at children in hospital with more general needs.”
Chief executive and founder of TLC for Kids Tim Conolan said that the idea for Tracky Dack Day came from advice he was given by some hospital staff.
“I was told that they advise kids to get out of their hospital gear and get into casual clothes whenever they can, as there are proven benefits to their mood and wellbeing,” he said.
So far almost 5000 people have registered for the day, from businesses and community groups to individuals.
“Funds raised will provide support for kids and their families in hospital with things like medical expenses, accommodation, toys, food supplements and unfortunately funeral expenses if needed,” he said.
