Carty was officially unveiled as Greens coach last night after agreeing to an initial one-year deal, while the Albury-Wodonga Football Association power has re-signed Dave Smith as its senior women’s coach.

Carty has spent the past two years as an assistant to Kidd, who’s last game in charge after 17 years was the thrilling 3-2 cup final win against Melrose FC in September.

Carty admitted he had big shoes to fill.

“I don’t think I’m daunted by the responsibility,” the 39-year-old told The Border Mail.

“Scott has finished up and now it’s about looking forward. I’d like to think he wants to be involved. I don’t think the drive will go away.

“The club is always going to come first for Scott.”

The appointment is Carty’s second in the AWFA, following six years, and two stints, in charge of rival Albury City.

The 2008 Coach of the Year, who was an assistant coach for AWFA in the game against Melbourne Heart last year, said the Greens had high hopes for next season.

“The club has a culture of success,” said Carty, who played at City, St Patrick’s and Belconnen.

“That’s how we train.

“It’s very valuable to have such a culture.

“The expectation is to play good football and finish very high.”

Greens president Chris Rochford said he was delighted to secure Carty.

“We are confident that Adam will be able to continue the success that the club has come to know,” he said.
