Mack, who took over the position from Paul Gooding at the South East Australian Basketball League club’s annual meeting on Tuesday night, said yesterday he wanted to build on the good work of the past 12 months.

The Bandits went from SEABL laughing stock to national champions in a fairytale campaign that stunned the league.

“We have a great team behind us and we look forward to building on this year’s success — the committee, the coaches and players, our volunteers and supporters, and the fantastic sponsors,” Mack said.

With coach Brad Chalmers close to making a decision on a replacement import for Jazz Ferguson, Mack has every right to be confident with key players Momo Ntumba, Alex Opacic and Ben Hollis committing for next season.

Mack also paid tribute to the outgoing Gooding who will stay on as vice-president.

“Paul has been around basketball for many years and it is great that he will stay on board as vice-president,” Mack said.

Gooding has spent the past three years in the top job.

Meanwhile, other new committee appointments included Tim Goddard as vice-president of basketball operations and Chris Lindhe as a general committee member.

They will join existing members Gooding, Greg Sharp, Nina Merrilees, Trevor White, Simon Plunkett, Peter Duck and Jenny Squire.
