Police were patrolling Lavington yesterday afternoon when they saw two boys, who had been walking through a park near McKenzie Street, suddenly drop a backpack and sprint away.
Police were unable to find the duo, but found the backpack was full of stolen property.
The stolen goods were returned to their owner who confirmed a house break-in.
The suspected burglars are described as being about 17 years old and both of Caucasian appearance.
At the time of running away from police, one teen was wearing a red shirt, and the other a white shirt.
One of the boys is described as also having scruffy, sandy-coloured hair, while the other was wearing a black cap.
“I would urge any member of the community that notices suspicious persons in their area to contact local police straight away,” Sgt Paul Gay, of Albury police, said today.
“If possible, detailed descriptions of the person, their clothing, and last direction of travel, assist attending and patrolling police greatly.”
Anyone with information should contact Albury police (6023 9299) or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
