The Lions Club sold its collection of giant Santas, 30 years after it started leasing them to businesses.
Buyers snapped them up at $100 a pop — with 40 people missing out.
Abury’s Glenn Collins bought one after his son, Hudson, 4, asked him when would the Santas be coming to town this year.
“I told Hudson they wouldn’t be on show but we would buy one to put on our roof,” Mr Collins said.
The pair, and other buyers, collected their Santas on Saturday — carting them to their new homes from Coles Lavington to Tallangatta.
The Lions use the income to help St Vincent de Paul, Uniting Care Wesley and Salvation Army with their Spirit of Christmas program.
Secretary Harold Cover said the club would consider new fund-raising ideas — perhaps, even, a new and improved decoration-hire project.
