Police say the two women were sitting at an outdoor eatery bench about 3am today when a third woman approached them.
She punched the two seated women in the face and left with another man, police say.
The women suffered minor injuries. Police believe the attack was unprovoked.
Initial police reports said the assault happened outside Sweethearts Pizza but witnesses say the incident happened outside the neighbouring Charcoal Chicken.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Albury Police on (02) 6023 9299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Either way, this morning’s attack is the third alleged assault in Dean Street in little more than a month.
There was a brawl outside a late-night eatery on November 29, during which a man claimed to have been king-hit.
The attack on Jason James, 50, split his eyeball, smashed his eye socket and broke his nose.
The Border Mail spent the early hours of Sunday morning on Dean Street with police. Click here for the report and photos.
