SES volunteers and sandbags saved several other homes from the floods after the Buckagingah Creek burst its banks yesterday morning.
But it was family who came to the rescue of Joyce Kotzur.
Her son-in-law was in the flooded yard digging channels to divert the water, her daughter on the mop inside the home that was also flooded in 2010.
Sandbags at the front door had helped stem the flow but water was seeping into the lounge room.
“We had never been flooded in 20 years and now it has been twice in no time at all,” Mrs Kotzur said.
“This time we stayed but the last time it was the middle of the night rather than daytime.
“We are just trying to keep the water out at the moment, some is seeping through the front door despite the sandbag.
“I have my daughter, her husband and grand-daughter all lending a hand trying to keep the water at bay.”
Brian Klemke was ploughing through the water on his farm with a large bale of hay on the front of his tractor and smaller bales and his two sons on the back.
He had lost all the fences he had replaced after the 2010 floods.
“We have ewes lambing on either side of the water,” he said.
“We are just going to take this feed around to the stock caught on the other side.”
Henty Football Club president Neil Terlich said they were living up to their Swampies nickname.
About half the playing surface at their homeground was under water.
“The good news is we look like we have kept the water out of the club rooms,” Mr Terlich said.
“It certainly isn’t as bad as 2010.
“But I’m a bit surprised with the amount of water that is coming out of the creek — didn’t think that we had that much rain.”
