Just as she did 50 years ago, Doris Gear rolled the jack to christen the new surface.
The mum of six, 86, said it brought back “a flood” of memories.
“They didn’t ask me to roll the jack until I arrived at the green,” Gear said.
Half a century earlier she rolled the first jack on the grass surface her now-deceased husband Walter helped bring to the area.
“It’s a lovely, friendly bowling club,” Gear said.
About 100 people turned out, including president of Bowls Victoria Rosemary Varty.
Club treasurer Margaret Bates said the day was a great celebration of the club’s history.
“We had a lot of people which is great because we are only a small club.”
After the official welcome, guests played lawn bowls.
Master of ceremonies Robert Reid led formalities and the event was attended by former club and committee members.
