THIS may upset some people but I fail to see why the Australian media should devote so many pages and column inches to coverage of the latest US school shooting when the Americans, themselves, lack the will to do anything about it.
Sadly, these events are like trains — there will be another one soon.
Why should Australians have their heartstrings pulled when politicians in the US will talk a lot but, in the end, do little or nothing to stop the next one?
We have to remember that there are weirdos in America who will see this event as an excuse to call for teachers to have guns, for there to be guns in the classrooms and for kids to be taught how to shoot to protect themselves.
This has been an appalling event but why should Americans expect the rest of the world to mourn if they will not do anything to stop these shootings?
