The community group has decided to form a committee to assess the need for a Thurgoona-based event to complement carols held at the Kinross Woolshed this year.
Lions’ zone chairman Ian Crane said: “We really think there is a need for this sort of event for the growing population in Thurgoona” .
Do you think Thurgoona needs its own Carols by Candlelight? Comment below.
Despite popular carols events already existing in Albury and Wodonga, Mr Crane said it was important for Thurgoona to have its own as the city grew larger.
“I’ve seen Thurgoona really expand in the nine years that I’ve been here,” Mr Crane said.
“There’s 6000 people here at the moment but, over the next 30 years, it will grow to about 30,000 or so.
“Hopefully by that time, the event will be well established.
“We need to get in on the ground floor on this and then build it up to something spectacular.”
