AN intoxicated Deniliquin mother drove through an alcohol breath-testing site with her six-year-old sitting unrestrained in the back seat, police say.
Deniliquin police said the mother ignored police instructions and drove her Subaru past a breath-testing station about 7.30pm on Finley Road in Deniliquin.
Police said they followed the car a short distance before it pulled over but when an officer went to get out of the police car, the woman drove off.
A short, low-speed pursuit ended when the woman parked in the driveway of her home two kilometres from the breath-testing site.
Officers said they found her six-year-old son unrestrained in the back seat and attempted to arrest the woman.
They allege she resisted arrest and a small struggle ensued.
She was taken into custody and officers allege she was intoxicated.
A 41-year-old woman was charged with assaulting police, driving under the influence of alcohol and resisting arrest.
