Lightning caused fires around Mount Buffalo through Running Creek and Yackandandah and Granya, Talgarno and Mount Hotham.
The greatest concern was a fire caused by lightning at Chiltern on Saturday afternoon.
About 30 hectares of farmland was burnt at a Tovey Road property and waterbombers prevented the fire spreading into nearby Mount Pilot National Park.
“The Chiltern fire moved along very quickly,” CFA operation officer Mark Owens said.
The fire was contained during the night and was deemed safe just after 1pm yesterday.
He said NSW fire crews “copped more” fire trouble than Victoria and CFA brigades were called over the border to assist with fires, including the out-of-control Ournie bushfire.
More than 50 firefighters, many volunteers, were on hand yesterday with help from 35 Department of Sustainability and Environment and Parks Victoria officers.
A water bomber would be based at Corryong for the next two days.
No homes or stock were affected.
