No AC for 2 hours in Wodonga

2.15PM UPDATE: A POWER outage threw homes and businesses into darkness and stopped air-conditioners in their tracks.

Much of Wodonga was affected by the outage, which started about midday.

Electricity provider SP AusNet restored power about 2pm, with a cable fault understood to be the cause of the outage.

Wodonga passed 34 degrees at midday and reached 37.4 at 2pm.

Many Wodonga shops were closed while the power was out.

SP AusNet also reported unplanned outages at Bandiana, Barnawarth, Indigo Valley and Huon Creek.

Several residents turned to Wodonga's air-conditioned entertainment centre, The Cube, which opened its doors to those looking to cool off.
