For the first time in Albury, the Royal Academy of Dance held a three-day workshop to fine-tune the students’ skills.
Today will be the last chance for students to improve their technique before their exams.
“The workshop gives them more confidence, it broadens their horizons,” Royal Academy of Dance regional co-ordinator for Victoria Jane Hollier said.
Students travelled from Wangaratta, Shepparton and Wagga for the workshop.
Mrs Hollier said it was important to go out to teachers in the regions.
“Albury is a vibrant place for dance,” she said.
“The teachers have prepared the students well.”
Tutor Daphne Turnbull, from Ardmona, was an examiner for almost 30 years and was impressed with the students’ talent.
“What I really like is their hard-working nature,” she said.
Mrs Hollier said the workshop was important because it let students get used to working with a pianist.
“It takes the children out of their comfort zones,” she said.
“Dance is such a wonderful experience for children.
“They’re getting experience from all kinds of levels.”
It was important for the students to work with new tutors and meet new dancers.
Jazmyne Gemmill, 9, of Albury said she had lots of fun making new friends and learning new things.
“I really like ballet and how it’s so graceful,” she said.
Mrs Hollier hopes to hold the workshop again next year.
The clinic was held at Murray Youth Ballet in Albury.
