A FORMER Albury High student is spreading his own kind of magic.
Dane Williams will spend the next two weeks on the Border and in surrounding towns, walking into pubs and testing his illusions on some often unsuspecting patrons.
Williams, 29, who operates a magic theatre in Melbourne, said it started as a hobby and passion.
“I just saw a guy doing some magic in Melbourne went into a magic shop and it all started from there,” he said.
“I like to do what I call street magic — it’s magic up close.
“But I don’t want money, sometimes people buy me a beer — this is all about spreading the magic.”
Williams encouraged other would-be magicians to join his theatre in Melbourne.
“I’m happy to bring them to Melbourne to be part of the theatre every Friday and Saturday night,” he said.
“It is something very different even for Melbourne and in just six months has been hugely popular.”
