Echuca sure to test Lady Wolves

THE Wodonga Lady Wolves are expecting a tough battle against Echuca in Echuca tomorrow.

The Lady Pirates sit third on the Country Basketball League ladder and are a strong finals contender.

They are gunning for a second straight grand final appearance and will see the Lady Wolves as the perfect test.

Echuca will be helped by the inclusion of several experienced players this week.

However Wodonga will take confidence from its 37-point win against the Pirates in round 4.

Wodonga’s defensive pressure has blossomed the last few games.

Even more pleasing for coach Doug Polmear has been his team’s scoring depth, making it hard for opposition teams to defend.

“I will be looking for consistency in shot selection throughout the whole game this week,” he said,

“That and a dedicated effort in getting through our plays with positive results.

“I expect strong defensive pressure from all our players as we continue to build on our strengths.

“We will need to watch Sheridan Townrow and Charlotte Long who have the ability to score quick points.”

The men’s Wolves squad has the bye this round.
