Albury coach to lead ODI fightback

12.40PM: THE job of turning around Australia’s one-day cricket form has fallen to Albury’s most-capped Test player, Steve Rixon.

Rixon will take over as Australia’s head coach this week while Mickey Arthur “returns home to spend some time with his family”, Cricket Australia said.

Arthur will take the reins back on Saturday’s for the fourth ODI against Sri Lanka at the Sydney Cricket Ground, leaving Rixon the task to return Australia to the winners’ list in Thursday clash at the Gabba in Brisbane.

Rixon was hotly tipped to take the top job from Tim Nielsen in 2011 before Arthur was appointed.

The  have added fire power at his disposal after the national selectors today announced the return of three Test players.

Captain Michael Clarke returns to the side, along with David Warner and wicket-keeper Matthew Wade.

The Australian squad for the third and fourth matches is:

Michael Clarke (Capt), George Bailey, Xavier Doherty, Moises Henriques, Phillip Hughes, David Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Glenn Maxwell, Clint McKay, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade, David Warner.
