A PIZZA chain is about to open a new store directly opposite the Albury police station, operating a takeaway, delivery and dine-in service.
Crust Gourmet Pizza has been given city council consent to convert the former Perl’s clothing store at 550 Olive Street into a pizza bar with eating available inside and on the footpath.
It will operate from 4pm to 11pm seven days a week.
Perl’s rented the shop for 31 years but last year relocated to a larger shop a few doors up the street.
Crust Gourmet Pizza operates about 100 bars across Australia, including five it opened at the MCG in 2012.
It encourages customers to order online and runs a fast delivery service.
Typically Crust franchises employ two full-time staff and four teenage part-timers.
The existing Olive Street shopfront will be changed to have fold-in windows, with seating available for 16 people inside and 16 on the footpath, subject to council approval.
The building, owned by a Queensland investor, is located between the Bliss beauty salon and the Spiders costume shop and has a rear access on Arnolds Lane.
