Albury RSL sub-branch president Colin Darts said yesterday that Sergeant Bishop had died in 1931, aged 37.
Mr Darts said he was buried at the Albury Pioneer Cemetery.
In 1982 the Albury-Wodonga Corporation commemorated his deeds by naming a footpath it called Bishop’s Walk, off Ironbark Way in the St John’s Green housing estate.
The RSL will today unveil a new plaque at Bishop’s Walk.
The ceremony will be done in the presence of Sergeant Bishop’s only daughter, Joyce Taylor.
The ceremony starts at 11am and the soldier’s medals will be displayed.
