KIEWA-Sandy Creek has landed a triple blow, luring Wodonga trio Guy Telford, Jason Bartel and Tory Ziems to the Tallangatta league.
In yet another hit to the Bulldogs’ depth, the trio have opted to play for the Hawks under North East-Border coach of the year Ryan Richardson.
Bartel, who was runner-up in the Tallangatta league’s 2011 Barton medal, returns to the Hawks a season after playing in their flag.
Richardson, a former Wodonga player himself, said he was thrilled to secure the three.
Danny Vogel has also returned to the club from Melbourne.
“We are rapt to get Jason back,” Richardson said. “He and Guy are great mates.
“Guy will be really handy for us.
“He’s a key position player who can play at either end which is pretty valuable.
“As for Tory, he’s a young kid with a lot of potential.
“We are happy to get all of them.
“Danny Vogel, too.
“He was huge in the finals in that premiership year.”
The signings will help the Hawks offset the loss of Chris Lewis, Todd Wallace and Julian Day.
Meanwhile, reigning Tallangatta league premier Mitta United has landed a coup of its own.
Justin and Chris Nelson have returned to the club.
The highly-decorated brothers, who share a swag of league and premiership medals between them, will play for the Mountain Men again this season after a year off.
It remains unclear how many games they’ll play, with the pair still focusing on a career in comedy.
The twins had a successful stint on Australia’s Got Talent last year.
