WODONGA Radio Control Car Club’s summer series got under way running under lights last weekend, with 1/10 scale Formula 1 cars running for the first time on the hot mix bitumen road circuit.

The weather was ideal for racing, with new challengers from far and wide.
The main event with the Stock class had a capacity field contesting each heat and final,
Chris McHale took out fastest lap on the day, with Bryce Shoemark taking out the total points.
A close finish right down to seventh place outright has set an interesting chase for the summer series points.
Rod Warren in the new X-Ray chassis put in his fastest every lap time at the circuit.
With the stock lap times coming down, competition is at its highest level, with times in the low 14 seconds equal to state level.
The 540 Pro class with the new 21.5 turn motor have also upped the speed, with lap times crumbling with the new motors.
These times would have been state champs one year ago,
Ken Birt in his Tamiya TF3 led the field all night with a fastest lap of 16.834 seconds and took total points.
He was closely followed by Ashleigh Robbins and Neweyn Millen who said they would need more speed if they were going to catch Birt in the coming months.
Front-wheel Tamiya Mini racing was showing quick times, with lap speeds of 16.64 seconds, with Bryce Shoemark taking out the points on the night closely followed by Nathan Winhurst and Neil Russell in their minis.
With the Formula One cars competing for the first time, it is expected to be the class of the future as most clubs have now embraced this type of racing.
The next On Road meeting will be held under lights in February.
Anyone with a 1/10 electric radio control car is welcome — first day is free, a club car is available.
A special off-road night will be held tomorrow evening, with competitors coming from all over Victoria. Spectators are welcome at the Diamond Park track on the Lincoln Causeway, Wodonga.
