Tammi Hall and Riley Mather organised a free dress day and Easter egg counting competition at their school, Melrose Primary, because they wanted to give back to the place that restored their confidence.
Since he was a few weeks old, Riley, now 9, has been receiving treatment for his club foot.
Scared to go to the hospital when he was younger, he said he looks forward to his visits now because he is greeted by nice people.
“They are nice, caring, some of them are funny,” he said of the nurses.
“And my foot is really good now.
“It used to be turned around.”
Without the help from the hospital, he wouldn’t be able to walk.
Tammi, 10, was born with a wine-coloured birthmark on her chin, neck and chest, but has been receiving laser treatment since she was four and now the mark is barely visible.
“It’s helped me because I’ve become more confident standing up in front of people, like my class and my school,” she said.
Both are already thinking of ways they can raise more money for next year’s appeal.
“It’s good to give back to people that have done good things for you.”
