TENNIS star Sebastian Wrobel put in one of his best individual performances to lead Albury to victory in the Eric Johnson Cup on home soil yesterday.
The smooth-hitting right-hander won 80 games and lost just 18 to anchor the victory against Western Suburbs and Glenelg, Albury’s sixth straight win in the annual two-day under-19 teams tournament.
Wrobel claimed the Keith Stone Trophy for the second straight year, while Maggie Snowdon won the Ernie Gill Trophy after winning 80 games and losing 16.
Albury won 590 games, with Western Suburbs second with 427 and Glenelg third with 375.
Albury coach Ken Wurtz said he was thrilled his team could extend its winning streak.
“I wasn’t too sure how we would go but I’m very happy,” Wurtz said.
“It was played in the right spirit.
“The teams get on well so it’s a friendly atmosphere.”
