Winners but still underdogs

HOLBROOK and District Cricket Association will defend its O’Farrell Cup title on Sunday at home against Wagga.

The association, which resumes club matches this week, surprised the Riverina with its two upset wins against Leeton at Leeton and then a fortnight ago against Griffith at Holbrook, but will be underdogs for this clash.

Holbrook’s success has been built heavily on skipper and opening bat Grant Forest (Henty), who has made half-centuries in both wins.

“If you can post a score of more than 150 at Holbrook, the team batting second can struggle to chase on the slow pitch and outfield,” Forest said,

“The pressure is on Wagga to beat a small association like us.”

Holbrook pair Hayden Wishart and Josh Jones, who both missed against Griffith, are available.

Holbrook: Grant Forest (Hent), Grant Gardiner (Hent/St Pat’s), Shannon Terlich (Hent), Greg Schuller (Hent), Andrew Madden (Osb), William Heriot (Holb), Jimmy Grills (Holb), Josh Jones (Holb), Hayden Wishart (Holb), Paddy Murray (Hent), Todd Hannam (TRYC), Nick Perryman (Osb). Emerg: Andrew Mackinlay (Holb/Lav).
