AMATEUR artists are among those Leonie June wants to attract to the new Howlong community market.
Ms June wants to “drag people’s creativity out of the woodwork”.
“I really want to encourage people who have never thought to bring their artwork to a market and sell it before to show off what they can do,” she said.
The first market will be held on March 17.
“With this focus on art, we want to differentiate with other markets and offer up something a little bit different for any visitors,” Ms June said.
“Sometimes you see a lot of the same things at markets.
“Only 19 of the 38 stall spaces have been booked, so there is plenty of room for everyone, from coffee vendors to buskers.”
Vendors can snap up a stall for $10, with proceeds going to Howlong Animal Rescue.
Community groups will take turns to hold a sausage sizzle to raise money for their own causes.
The market will be held on the fourth Sunday of each month after the one on March 17.
