Wheelie good acts at Y-FEST

MOTORCROSS stunt bike riders, rides and an adult zone have been added to the Dreamfields Festival Y-FEST.

The 18-and-under drug and alcohol-free youth music festival also has a new home — the Riverina TAFE Environment Centre in Ettamogah Road, Thurgoona.

The event on April 13 will feature nine hours of music including national acts DJ Helena, Peking Duck and Popcorn Thieves, as well as local performers Miss Mikaila and DJ Candy B.

Event manager Brett Symons said the size of the environment centre played a part in its selection.

“We needed a large area to accommodate all the music acts that will be on different stages and the stunt bike riders,” he said.

“Noise out here will not be a factor either.”

Dirt mounds and ramps will be set up for Showtech FMX Australia’s stunt bike riders behind the TAFE.

Albury’s Laura Vogel will MC the event, introducing acts throughout the event.

“We are bringing all the elements of something like the Big Day Out to the one festival,” she said.

The event will feature several stages.

An adult zone will be set up at the front of the TAFE for adults to take part in the event and monitor their children.
