The crash happened on the Bogong High Plains Road about 11am.
The motorcyclist was travelling north from Mount Beauty and Falls Creek.
All emergency services attended the crash.
It is believed the man died at the scene.

It is the second death on North East roads in less than 24 hours.
A woman, 21, died in hospital overnight following a crash in Glenrowan.
She was travelling north on Eleven Mile Creek Road, about eight kilometres from Glenrowan off the Hume Freeway, when she lost control of her white Toyota Corolla just before 6pm, police say.
It is believed the female driver lost control before veering off the road and crashed into a tree.
The Glenrowan West woman was taken to the Wangaratta hospital where she later died.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
